The Seek the Lord Sunday topic this week: What has God been showing/teaching you?

God is always working on me with patience. I have none. I recently heard someone at church say "I stopped praying for patience, and started praying for understanding." I need BOTH!

Galatians 5:22-23 states that "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

I have the rest pretty much down, just that P-word that I struggle with. My mom has told me that even as a child I was not a patient person. Now as an adult, it is still there, though with different wants. I want to have another little one. I wanted The Boy so badly and I cried out to God night and day. Now, I am in the same place. I know that God has a plan for our family but I wish that I understood His timing. I think that it would make it SO much eaiser. I need to focus on the Promise that is His word.

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

I am really looking forward to our monthy Girls Night Out on Thursday since the "Fruits of the Spirit" is the topic. I hope that it will guide me into some insight about patience. I just wish that it would hurry up and get here. ;o)

It is hot here today! I love summer but I do not necessarily need it to be hot to enjoy it. I took some photographs for a wedding today and was wearing black pants and a dress shirt and my body was screaming at me from beneath the non-breathable fabric.

My brother and his best girl are in town and the plan is to go out for dinner and some Cranium at my mom's house afterwards. Hopefully my Mamacita will have the A/C going!

I have had a busy past week. I am tired of being busy. It seems that Summer has totally passed me by!

I was really fortunate to be able to attend a roundtable lunch with other Young Adult leaders in the NW area yesterday. One of the guys from AG(Assemblies of God) Headquarters came and it was really nice to be able to sit down and chat with others in the same ministry and brainstorm and talk about the challenges in their own church bodies.

Today, it was back to work and home with a migrane in the afternoon. I was able to take a little snooze and then made this for dinner: Orzo with Garbanzos, Tomatoes, and herbs. So Yummy!!!

On Saturday, I gave a Jam lesson to a couple of friends. I think that canning/preserving is a lost art, and I want to keep it up. I grew up with homemade jams, applesauce, home canned fruits and veggies. I want to know what is going into what I am giving my family, as much as I can help. Livin' on a Prayer...

Our Seek the Lord Sunday subject this week is prayer. Prayer and me are tight!

I have so many reasons to be thankful that the veil was torn so I can approach my Heavenly Father with my thoughts and feelings directly. Praise God that I am his child!

I HUGELY believe in the power of prayer. I believe in the little prayers said by a child and I believe in the larger prayers agreed upon by a congregation. I know the direct effects of the power of prayer:

We have an awesome, annointed prayer time before our evening service on Sunday. Sometimes this time is filled with quiet devotionals and other times it is filled with Holy Ghost fire and we are bringing the building down with us. One thing that remains constant is that God is always there, directing us and intently listening to us and our petitions.

We also most Sunday evenings after Sunday service have a time of prayer for the congregation. This Sunday was no different though tonight, I needed the prayers. This past week, it has felt like my joy has been stolen and some overwhelming sadness has crept in. It has been a year since the pregnancy that I lost and thoughts of the baby that might have been have been sneaking up on me as well. "Beany" would have been 3 months now... and my heart still has some sadness there from that loss. The prayer warriors of our church gathered around me and lifted me up to Him and I thank them for their intercession.

I can't wait until next week, CB (that is my new nickname for you Daiquiri!). See you then!

Parenting 101

Welcome back to Seek the Lord Sunday! Today's topic is Parenting.

I am so glad that I have my Heavenly Father in my corner when it comes to parenting. From when I was a child, until now as a mother, I know that the Lord has been in my life, directing my steps. I am so fortunate to have been raised in a Christian home, where I was nurtured and loved by both my parents. Even after they divorced when I was 12, they both continued on loving myself and my brother the same.

My husband was not so fortunate. He basically raised himself and his younger sister from a young age. He went to church sporadically. He went between both of his parents for years, living with each for a time, before moving again.

Even though our backgrounds were not the same, by any means, God had a plan for both of our lives, to become one, and to have children and become parents.

The Hubby and I tried to concieve for almost a year and a half. One night at church, our pastor, when giving the Altar call, said that "Tonight is your night, if you are out there and you need a touch in your body, or anything from The Lord, come forward." The Hubby and I did, and I know that, just like Sarah, my womb was opened that night. I thank God everyday for The Boy and the blessing that he has been to us, even now that he is in the "terrible two's".

We only have The Boy so far (we are awaiting our "quiver")and I KNOW that we have made our mistakes, being parents of one. I am sure that we will continue to make them. Praise God, that he forgives our mistakes, he gives us the freedom to forgive ourselves for the mistakes that we have made.

I also know that without Him daily renewing my patience and strength, I would not be able to keep my hair from turning 18 shades of gray....

Starting with VBS prep and Outdoor Cinema last Saturday, VBS every night during the week, and today both The Hubby's company picnic and a Softball fundraiser for our friend Brian and Special Olympics activities. Tonight was the first night of our VBS and I was so busy, I forgot to take a single picture! I am the worship leader and help out with the Yo Ho Ho Show and Whipcrack Island Games. We had 34 kids last night, AWESOME! We are having a boys vs. girls offering contest and a who-can-bring-the-most friends contest. The winner of the offering contest gets to choose a candy bar of choice and the winner of the friends contest gets an IPOD!!! We are also doing a random drawing for a 5 inch TV each night. The kids also are earning pirate dobloons for good behavior and will have a chance to "shop" for prizes at the end of the week.

I hope that the kids this week will learn and grow in Christ and have a great time. I hope that I will remember to take pictures tonight.

Heaven

This is my first Seek the Lord Sunday post(thank you Daquiri!) The topic this week is Heaven.

Heaven is one of those things for me that is so amazing and wonderful that I cannot even wrap my mind around it. To be there with my Heavenly Father, and his Son, my Redeemer. C'mon, how AWESOME will that be. To ask all the questions I have, and be face to face. My heart gets excited. Does that make sense? Can you imagine what worship will be like in Heaven? I love to enter into worship at church, and love to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. To be in Heaven, WITH GOD?!? To worship Him on His throne?!? It truly boggles the mind.

I know that Revelation 21 tries to give a description of what Heaven will look like, which is nice, but I think that it will be 1,000,000 times greater than we could ever dream.

When I get to Heaven, I can't wait to see my loved ones, the ones who prayed for me and my salvation, knowing that through the Lord I would live my best life(thank you Great Grandma!) I can't wait to see my mansion!

Full day here on the homefromt. We had a VBS planning meeting today. Our VBS is starting on Monday, so we had a lot to accomplish. We painted murals for the offering contest, watched a worship video to play for the kids, ate pizza, hung posters, discussed a schedule, the list goes on and on. I am really looking forward to VBS this year and hope that we can show Christ's love to all of the kids that come in our doors and make Him very real to them.

This evening after the meeting, a group of us went to the 7th annual Comcast Outdoor cinema. Surf's Up was the movie this year. It was totally adorable. The Hubby and I had never seen it and we really enjoyed it. One of my high school English teachers was the "opening act" with his band, Six Pack Pretty. They played a lot of 70's and 80's music and it was fun to see him play. It became super cold at the end of the night, but we stayed until the end, packed up and headed home. It truly was a great day.

If I have not mentioned this before, my hubby and I go to an AWESOME church. We have lots of different ministries at our church, but the newest is Young Adults. We are a group of 20 and 30- somethings who get together at least once a month to fellowship, snack, play games, but most of all, to learn about the Lord and his love for us. The group is "officially" about a year old and we are growing. Praise God!!!

Next month, LP will be giving our "sermonette", which I am looking forward to greatly. I know that she has some fun things planned for us. If you are in our area, and would like to join us, leave me a comment, and I will get you the deets...

Life, preparing for Pirates!

Avast thar! This year's VBS is quickly upon us, starting on Monday. Our theme this year is "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" from VeggieTales.

The ideas for this VBS are so cute. The kiddos will be learning what it takes to be a hero in God's eyes. They will be having games, crafts, science, and of course plenty of learning from God's word. We are going to have a blast. I love the enthusiasm from the kids, and to see them loving the Lord is what truly makes this time worthwhile. I am totally bummed. How is it that when your camera is broken, or not with you, the best photo moments happen. My memory is not always the greatest, so to rely on a "flashback" of that picturesque moment is not always going to work.

We had Young Adults at our house this weekend. It was a beautiful evening, so we had the water flowing in the backyard and 10 kiddos here to enjoy it. Here is a picture of The Boy playing in the sprinkler:

How lucky are we to live in a country with the freedoms that we enjoy. We had a great day today celebrating just that. We picked up some fireworks yesterday evening, made a potato salad with red onion and bacon and relaxed. My dad is in town to visit since my GPa had a knee replacement (besides the fact that 2 days before the knee surgery he grandma-napped my GMa from the nursing home and my dad needed to give him what for).

Today, we watched Heroes and had a classic 4th of July dinner. Our neighbors always have TONS of the large-scale fireworks, so we pulled out our lawn chairs and had a great show.

Tonight is our local Relay for Life. I am helping out by being on a team called Mommies on a Mission. Our local relay is AWESOME! We are a community small in population, but we end up raising between 3-4 dollars per person for our county population, which is amazing.

Life, playing catch-up

It has been over a month since I have posted. I guess that there is not a lot of stuff going on that is blog worthy day by day, so here is a lump post.

My grandma is currently in a rehab nursing home (not that kind of rehab...). She has had both hips replaced in the course of her lifetime and one has completely failed her. She is doing physical therapy and occupational therapy to help strengthen her muscles and get her up and around again as best as possible. It is tough to be 90!

We have been doing some travelling recently. We went up north to Lynnwood in mid-April for the Newsboys concert, which was awesome. We also had a chance to visit the Seattle Aquarium with The Boy. Interestingly though, the night before the Aquarium visit, we had 7 inches of snow. Totally crazy! The power went out and we had the chance to play some good ol' fashioned Skip-Bo.

Last weekend, we went to The Dalles for a memorial service for John's grandma. They were never close in his lifetime, which is sad to both he and myself. We went to be with his mom for emotional support, and also to visit with Crystal, his sister. She has not seen The Boy since the day after his birth. My, how time flies.

We are headed out on Friday for vacation. Woo Hoo! Disneyland, here we come! We have some fun things planned while we are there and I am really looking forward to not cooking, swimming, warm weather (hopefully) and a great time with my family.

Today, I am a little sad. I just don't feel like I have been the best "me" lately and I am struggling on how to change it.

"Me" for me is many identities; Christian, wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, worker, leader. I just feel like I have stalled in these areas, some more than others. I guess that I am just putting this out there to own up to my feelings and ask for any suggestions and guidance on how to start fixing it.

We have been so busy at the homestead! The Hubby and I just bought a new bed and are soooo excited to get it soon. It is a King size pillow top and was wonderful just to lay on at the store. I am hoping that we will have a chance to paint the bedroom before it gets here.

I have also been trying to be healthier. I have been doing yoga in the morning and drinking more water. I would like to lose a little before we head to Disneyland in May.

We had an awesome time at church tonight! The Hubby and I are helping with the 3-6 graders doing something called High Point. I want these kids to truly know how special that they are to God, and I hope that we can help with that.

We bought plane tickets tonight for a little Mickey time in May. Woo Hoo!
We are going for 5 days to Disneyland and we are staying at the Grand Californian, which is a Craftsman-style hotel in Disney's California Adventure. I am SOOOOO excited! Just had to share before I go to bed.

The Boy is LOVING his Kindermusik class. There are kids his age to run around, sing, and dance with. He especially loves story time when they read "Shiny Dinah" and he gets to echo "Choo, choo. Choo, Choo. Dinah, Dinah, Dinah, Dinah. Shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo. Shine-a, shine-a, shine-a". It is adorable.

The Boy is doing a lot better. He still is having headaches from time to time, especially after a good cry or coughing spell.

We are on the countdown for his birthday. We are having both a family party and a friends party this weekend for this special occasion. He is growing up so fast!

We went out of town this past weekend and had a great time. We took the doggies to the Dog Park for a couple of hours and they had a great time. I also had a little shopping time where I was able to spend my Christmas gift certificate. I got:

Tonight, for the first time, I laughed out loud at The Boy's bedtime. For tonight, was the first time the "stall" was employed. It went a little something like this:

Life, with a head injury

My poor boy, it is hard to be a kid.

Yesterday, while having a tantrum at the playground, The Boy fell smack-dab on the back of his head from about 3 feet onto the cement. A mother's worst nightmare.

We rushed to the ER, and had about a 2 hour wait. He did pretty well in the beginning, but about an hour into the wait, he started grabbing his head and yelling "Owie, owie". It was heartbreaking. The ER doc came in, and was there for about 5 minutes. He checked his eyes and ears for blood, did not find any, Praise God! He was discharged to home with instructions to keep an eye on him and make sure that if anything changed, to bring him straight back to the ER.

He is just fine and dandy today. I just love him so much and hate him having any pain. As a parent, you want to save your kiddos from all the pain in the world, but it is not possible.

Wow! A busy week has passed by. I had something almost everyday, and if there was not something, I was trying to keep the house clean. Here is a little rundown:

This weeks's schedule seems pretty relaxing compared to last week. We do have Valentine's day this week to look forward to. We are also going to a concert(TobyMac, Jeremy Camp, and Matthew West) on Saturday with a stop by The Cheesecake Factory on the way, Yum!

Life, in 1 Corinthians 13

I have decided to try an experiment. For the next week, I want to be extra vigilant in living a "1 Corinthians 13" life. Especially verses 4-7:

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Just think how much better our relationships, whether it be with your husband or wife, or just those you encounter day to day, could be if we thought about and followed through with these verses.

Life, as a "working" mom

Every so often I am asked to return to help out at my previous workplace for a couple of days to cover vacations, surgeries, and the like. It is actually a nice little break from the world of The Boy. I like the adult interaction, and to fill my mind with things other than diapers and sippy cups, even if it is just to help lance a boil or make patent payments.

It makes coming home to a boy who has had a break from The Mom super sweet. I mean, I can't be away from this face for very long...

The Boy had his first music class today, which was a great success. He had a great time, even though he did not want to dance by himself. He also has an obsession with the fish tank at the studio. Tonight is our YM group. We are updating some scrapbooks from 1944-present. I love to look at the old photos and newspaper articles. It is so interesting what used to make it to the Society pages of the local newspaper. There are even some pictures of yours truly circa. 1980 or so, looking prim and proper in a blue dress with lovely white knee-high socks. I was all the rage in fashion.

I am bummed that I missed American Idol last night. If any one has some clips that I should check out, let me know!

Today The Boy and I are having Miss C over for playtime(and naptime)before Mama C and myself go shopping. We even get to go shopping for fun stuff, like scrapbooking materials and photo albums(and cat food).

We are doing this fun shopping for our Young Mothers meeting this week. We have lots of pictures from the past 60 years that need to be fixed in nice new albums and scrapbooks. The Young Mothers group has a long history and we want to preserve it for years to come.

I had a Pampered Chef Cook and Book meeting last night that was a good time. I have not been doing as well as I would like at the buisness and hope to get it "kickstarted" this year. Ther are so many great products and the new Spring ones are awesome, I can't wait to show them. We even have some new shows and recipes to choose from.

Today also brings another episode of American Idol. I wonder what awesome clip I will be able to post tonight!

We had a wonderful day today. We belong to such an awesome church. You can really feel God's presence there. I am so fortunate that my husband loves the Lord with all of his heart. It did not happen overnight, but he has dedicated himself to growing and learning. Every night, he reads the Bible to our son, who in turn holds the Bible to his chest and hugs it. It is so precious to me.

Today was my god-daughters birthday and we went to see Chuck E. Cheese.

We had a great time. This was The Boy's very first time there and it was such fun to watch him run around and play and watch the amazement of it all on his little face. We will definitely be going back.

Tonight starts my favorite time of year; American Idol time!

So far, it is pretty par for the course as the auditions go. They always show the crazies and some of the really good ones and it sucks me in for the season.

Life, over the weekend

Good Monday morning!

We had a very eventful weekend here at the homestead. Saturday morning both John and myself worked out of the house while The Boy had some quality time with his Nana and Papa.

In the afternoon, John relaxed at home watching the Seahawks, who unfortunatley lost their game; while I attended a baby shower for one of the girls that attends our church.

Saturday evening we had our monthly Young Adults meeting here at the house. Our theme was "Spiritual Resolutions" for the new year. We had an awesome time getting to know some of the new members a little better and everyone went away blessed hearing all the testimonies.

Sunday around here brings church, which we love. God is such a real presence in our lives and we love to gather with other believers and worship him. We have both morning and evening service at our church, and I am part of the worship team.

We returned home after the evening service and put The Boy to bed. John and I watched "Scott Baio is 46 and pregnant" to top off the night.

I hope that everyone else had a great weekend!

Life, back in the saddle

So, obviously I have not posted. Life has its way of putting things on hold. Looking back, I probably should have continued to blog, but I was so frustrated and confused.

In my last post I was anxiously awaiting my first OB appointment. Well, at that appointment we found that there was no actual pregnancy, but what is called a blighted ovum. So basically I waited and waited for a miscarriage that never came, which in turn caused me to need a D&C.

I have healed well and look forward to getting pregnant again. I am waiting on God and his timing.

In the meantime, I have decided to blog just my life in general. There will be laughs, tears, screams, and sometimes a combo of all of the above! Put on your tinfoil hats, it is going to be a wild ride!

Hello.
Today was a great day. The Boy and I ventured out this morning to get fresh veggies for the fam and ginger chews for me. We have a local produce place that I never think to go to. Silly me! They have the freshest stuff and the BEST prices. We got 2 different kinds of peaches, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, an onion, scallions, 5 lb. bag of Gala apples, an avocado, mushrooms, and a bag of green grapes all for $16.00! I had the most delicious tomato and avocado sandwich for lunch and a snack tonight.

The ginger chews are a treat that were introduced to me as a gift. They are yum-o and good for the nausea. I also picked up a container of Brown Cow cream-top yogurt.

My first appointment is right around the corner! John is able to go with me and my mom is coming as well to check out Beany. I can't wait to see you!

Today was another Chloe day. We played, went to the bank, and had grilled cheese and tomato soup, which was very good. Believe it or not, this is the first time I have made grilled cheese sandwiches. John always made mine in the past. I also used to have a aversion to grilled cheese after a dream I had...

Tonight we went to an El Salvadorian restaraunt in town. The food was good, though kind of little for the amount we ended up paying.

I have also been fiddling with the iPod my mom gave me. Between myself, Mommy, and Joshy, got it figured it out. Yea! I am currently listening to Pink Moon by Nick Drake. Love it!

I know that it would be SUPER early, but felt some wierd twinges in the tummy today. Probably gas, I know, but still a reminder that Beany is in there, growing away.

Today, a day filled with kids, groceries, cleaning, and naps for all (except John).

The Boy and I started our day welcoming Chloe for the day. We went to my appointment then grocery shopping and returned home to eat fruit roll-ups for being good. The kids probably should of had naps a little sooner than they did, but oh well.

Tonight, we have been tidying up the place. Gpa is coming tomorrow to have someone measure the tub for a retro-fit to make it a walk-in for Gma. I hope all goes well there.

Beany gave me a little nausea this morning and a smidge tonight. I am really looking forward to our first pictures next week!

Happy Labor day!

I am not in labor, thank goodness! We had a very nice BBQ with the Penas and the Goodenoughs. It is so nice to have friends with kids to get together with. The Boy had such a great time running around and climbing Chloe's jungle gym. After dessert, we walked down to the school and played on the toys there.

While at the park, there were a bunch of young teenagers on the swings. Now, I was once a young teenager, so I try and give them a break. But after, um, 50 or so F-bombs, you get a little crazy. Christie finally yelled over to them, "Hey, could you watch your language, we have little kids over here!". Most of them did oblige, but it is so annoying that you cannot even take your kids to the park without their minds being influenced in a negative way. ARGH!

My nausea was not too bad today, which was great. Tomorrow, I have an appointment with WIC and have Chloe for the day. It should be a good one!

This evening has been great. This morning, not so hot.

I mean, I am feeling fine except for the overwhelming nausea that I have had for the past 2 days. Yesterday, it was all day long. Today, just this morning for the most part. When I am not nauseated, I am STARVING! I had a delicious hot turkey sandwich with mashed taters and cranberry sauce for dinner and it was exactly what I wanted.

John has tomorrow off for Labor day and I am so glad. I love when he has an extra day home with us. We are hoping to hear from someone in the beginning of the week so we can see about moving. Everything in God's time....

Today was pretty uneventful. The Boy and I stayed home and vegged. He did not nap well today. I know that he is probably getting to the age where only having one nap a day would not be unheard of, but man does he get cranky without 2 naps.

Unfortunately for me, only one 45 minute nap for The Boy, means NO nap for me. I am trying to get through the day without one, but having Beany grow, sometimes I need one. Today was one of those days. I will probably go to bed here in a few.

I just got some recipes sent in for a new church cookbook. We are relaxing and watching the Seahawks game. I lucked out and John made dinner tonight. French toast, sausage, and fried potatoes. Delish!

What a great afternoon!

This afternoon, The Boy and myself as well as Christie and Chloe went to the park, then hit up the 'Dinger for some soft-serve. Afterwards, we went to let the kiddos play in Chloe's pool. I went to have a seat in the cushy lawn chair... and the pad TOTALLY soaked my butt. Oh well. The kids had a great time splashing around in the cool water while Christie and I soaked out tootsies. Ah, summer!

Good Morning!
So, I have decided to start a blog about my life currently and into the future (oooooh). I am a mommy of a super-smart kiddo, a wife to my hard-working hubby, and a incubator to Beany, due in April.

With my last pregnancy, I started journaling at 20 weeks or so. I am trying to be more on top of things this time. So far, besides the nausea, I am doing well. My first ultrasound will be in a couple of weeks, and we will see what is going on in there.

We are also on the hunt for a new place to live, due to some interesting circumstances. There is a house that I love, but it is all a matter of $$. I know that God will provide a PERFECT place for us to raise our family.
